Gungahlin

The ACT Government is planning several road upgrade projects in Gungahlin over the next 12 to 18 months to help cater for its rapidly increasing population.

Current and future road projects planned for this region are outlined in a map of Gungahlin road projects.

A brief summary of some of the projects is provided below.

  1. Gundaroo Drive duplication stage 1 - Gungahlin Drive to Mirrabei Drive/Anthony Rolfe Avenue
    $31.1 million over two years was provided in the 2015-16 ACT Budget to duplicate a one kilometre section of Gundaroo Drive from Gungahlin Drive to Mirrabei Drive/Anthony Rolfe Avenue.
  2. Gungahlin Drive improvements stage 1 - Well Station Drive to Barton Highway
  3. A 1.6 kilometre section of Gungahlin Drive from north of Sandford Street to the Barton Highway will be widened to three lanes (southbound section) and an additional signalised left turn lane will be provided from Well Station Drive onto Gungahlin Drive.
  4. Horse Park Drive intersection upgrades and duplication
  5. Duplication of Horse Park Drive from Anthony Rolfe Avenue to Well Station Drive and upgrades of the Anthony Rolfe Avenue, Mapleton Avenue and Well Station Drive intersections.

  6. Barton Highway/Gundaroo Drive/William Slim Drive signalisation
    The Barton Highway/Gundaroo Drive/William Slim Drive roundabout will be upgraded to improve safety and traffic flow. Traffic signals will be introduced to control the traffic according to the time of day. An additional lane will be added to all four approaches to the roundabout to better manage traffic.
  7. Gungahlin Town Centre road extensions 
    Extension of The Valley Avenue and Manning Clark Crescent.
