Anti Doping in Sport
The ACT Government condemns the use of doping practices to enhance performance in sport as both dangerous to the health of competitors and contrary to the recognised ethics of sport. The ACT Government recognises and supports the work of the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) and the Australian Sports Anti Doping Authority (ASADA) in promoting, coordinating, and monitoring the fight against doping in sport in all its forms.
The ACT Government is committed to the anti-doping cause through the Drugs in Sport Act 1999 and the ACT Government Policy on Drugs in Sport. These documents are currently under review to ensure the ACTs program remains current and relevant to the industry.
Sport and Recreation Services is responsible for the management and implementation of the ACT Governments Drugs in Sport Program and is committed to working with state sporting organisations to develop, implement and enforce anti-doping policies and programs in the ACT.
The ACT Academy of Sport (ACTAS) is a major program of Sport and Recreation Services and operates under the ACT Academy of Sport Anti Doping Policy.
