Alligator Weed
The ACT Government is determinedly controlling the small but persistent infestations of Alligator Weed in the ACT. It is important to prevent its potential spread downstream, which could cause millions of dollars damage to agriculture and the environment. 'Downstream' is a big stretch of waterway: the Murrumbidgee and Murray Rivers, all the way to Adelaide. So please help by becoming a 'spotter'! Check for Alligator Weed starting in your own backyard. Compare your suspect plant to the images in the attached brochure and if you think it may be Alligator Weed, call Canberra Connect on 13 22 81 and an officer from Parks, Conservation and Lands will be able to confirm it's identity.
