Tree Damage Claims

Parks, Conservation and Lands administers a number of procedures for dealing with public claims of reimbursement when a tree on public land is suspected of causing damage to private property.

These claims procedures must be followed before a claim for reimbursement can be considered.  Each claim is assessed on its merits by a qualified tree surgeon and if found to be legitimate, reimbursement of costs associated with repairs may be made.

There are four types of claims that can be made against damage caused by public trees:

  1. Tree damage to property (PDF PDF 101KB)
  2. Root damage to property (PDF PDF 100KB)
  3. Root damage to pavement (PDF PDF 101KB)
  4. Root damage to underground services. (PDF PDF 119KB)
