1080 Poison warning for dog owners
From 27 February 2012 until 9 April 2012 ACT Parks and Conservation Service will be conducting wild dog/fox control programs in the area to the west of Blue Range Hut.
If you take your dog with you to Blue Range Hut please keep it within the Campsite area or on a lead outside this area. 1080 bait warning signs have been posted on all tracks leading into the baited area. There will be a map showing the baited roads posted at Blue Range Hut.
The Blue Range Recreation Area is centred around the heritage listed remains of a World War II Italian internment camp, in which Blue Range Hut was the galley of the camp. Although the surrounding pine plantation was destroyed in 2003, the Blue Range Recreation Area remains a popular place for camping, picnics, functions and events.
Facilities include:
- Gas BBQ;
- Wood fire pit - but bring your own firewood as wood it is not provided;
- Pit toilet with wheelchair access; and
- Picnic tables.
Please note the following:
- Available for overnight stays, camping, day users and large events;
- Bokings essential;
- The hut can be hired seperately or the whole site can be hired for exclusive use.
- Unregistered motorbikes not allowed in this area;
- Pets allowed;
- Bring your own firewood.
Blue Range Recreation Area is located (
PDF 66Kb) in the Uriarra Forest area on Blue Range Road, approximately 2.6 km from the intersection with Brindabella Road.
