Camping in Namadgi National Park

Car-based camping is only permitted at the three designated campgrounds in Namadgi National Park - Honeysuckle, Orroral and Mt Clear campground and bookings are essential. Honeysuckle is the most developed and suitable for small to large groups; Orroral is suitable for smaller groups; and Mt Clear is the most remote campsite with basic facilites and access via an unsealed road.

Camping is prohibited in the lower and middle portions of the Cotter Catchment and in the upper catchment by permit only. Contact the Namadgi Visitor Centre for more information.

Honeysuckle Campground

Orroral Campground

Mt Clear Campground

Booking a Campsite

  • Campsite bookings are essential and must be made in advance of arrival. Book early to secure a site, especially on long weekends and holiday periods.

  • Campsite Fees:
    $5.90 per person - Honeysuckle and Orroral. Children under 10 years free.
    $3.50 per person - Mt Clear. Children under 10 years free.  
    $3.50 per person for community and non-profit groups at all campgrounds.  
  • Fees are payable in advance at the Namadgi Visitor Centre. This can be done on your way to the campground by cash, cheque or credit card during open hours or by cash or cheque using the after-hours facility at the front gate.
  • Your permit will include a tag to attach to your tent or campervan.
  • A three night limit applies at all Namadgi campgrounds.
  • Collection of firewood from the surrounding bush is prohibited.
  • Firewood is not supplied. 20 kilogram bags of slow burning wood is available for purchase at the Namadgi Visitor Centre. All proceeds support the Koomarri Association.
  • Fires are restricted to designated fire places unless a permit is obtained. You are encouraged to bring gas or fuel stoves as an alternative to campfires.
