Green Square Refurbishment
A combination of increased pedestrian traffic impact, and prevailing water restrictions have resulted in the grassed area of Green Square losing aesthetic and physical appeal.
The ACT Government recognises the importance of retaining a ‘soft landscape’ within the public realm of Green Square and has therefore developed a strategy to remedy the situation.

Parks Conservation and Lands engaged a professional consultant to prepare a design to refurbish this important public space. The completed design provides a water sensitive solution to maintaining the ‘green’ feel of the area by installing low growing native grasses. Paved footpaths will be constructed to cater for peoples preferred walking habits and a children’s play item will also be installed. Access to the majority of low brick walls will also be maintained for seating purposes.
