Renewal of the Chifley and Macgregor Playspaces
A key component of the 2007-2008 Playground Safety Program is the renewal of the playspaces at Chifley and Macgregor from local to central play spaces. These play spaces are being upgraded in line with Territory and Municipal Services (TAMS) draft strategy for public play spaces in Canberra, which recognises that play spaces integrated with other community facilities and activities, have the potential to strengthen the community fabric.
Community consultations about the renewal of the Chifley Place, Chifley and Berne Crescent, Macgregor play spaces were undertaken by Parks, Conservation and Lands (PCL) in October 2007. The consultation sought thoughts and comments about the play space renewals from local residents.
A consultant landscape architect was commissioned by PCL in November 2007 to develop plans for the play space renewals. Comments received from community consultations have been incorporated into the Final Sketch Plans.
TAMS is now pleased to promote the Final Sketch Plans for the renewal of the play spaces at Chifley Place, Chifley and Berne Crescent, Macgregor.

Plans can also be found at the Chifley shopping centre and at the Macgregor swimming centre.
Construction of the playspaces is due to commence in April/May 2008.
