Heavy Vehicle Safety
Due to geographic size, heavy vehicle safety is not a road safety priority for the ACT, however, it is an issue nationally.
Fatigue issues affecting heavy vehicle drivers are being addressed by the National Transport Commission.
The ACT continues to be involved in this work, despite the lack of formal driving hours regulations in the ACT. ACT involvement is to ensure that ACT heavy vehicle drivers are covered, and that the ACT does not become a loophole for national fatigue management measures.
Zero alcohol concentration (BAC) drink driving laws commence on 1 December 2010 and affect all 'special drivers'. To find out if you are a 'special driver' select the following link:
