Crash Information
Effective data analysis, evaluation and research is crucial for the development of evidence-based road safety countermeasures. All traffic crashes in the ACT are required to be reported to the police, irrespective of the amount of damage or the extent of injury. The police attend the more serious crashes, and prepare a report. Crash data is then entered onto the AFP system for police purposes.
All traffic crash forms are provided to Roads ACT for entry into the Integrated Asset Management System (IAMS) database. This data is used for analysis of road safety patterns. Discussions between TAMS and ACT Policing are continuing in an effort to streamline and improve crash data collection processes.
