Coordination and Consultation

The ACT Government works towards improved coordination and consultation processes by consulting with various road user groups and encouraging all government departments and agencies to communicate on road safety matters. 

The following  information and links provide details regarding some Road User Groups and Liason Committees.

  • Road Safety Liaison Committee  

This is an executive level committee which monitors the implementation of the ACT Road Safety Strategy and Action Plan.
In particular the RSLC provides quarterly advice to the Minister on matters affecting road safety; and further considers new road safety initiatives with potential for ACT implementation; and ensures effective linkages with other agencies on road safety matters.
Membership includes representatives from TAMS, ACT Policing, the Department of Education and Training and the Department of Treasury.

  • Road Safety Task Force

The RSLC is supported by an Road Safety Task Force (RSTF). Members of this group act as a working, support and advisory group to the RSLC; and further provide agency input to the development of ACT road safety strategies and action plans; and report on progress against the ACT Road Safety Action Plan, and other road safety initiatives in their agencies.
Membership includes representatives from Road Transport, ACT Policing, Education and Training, Department of Treasury, the NRMA ACT Road Safety Trust and Roads ACT.

  • Road User Working Group

The Road User Working Group (RUWG) provides comment and input to strategic road safety issues with a focus on road safety matters. The RUWG meets approximately every 4 to 6 months, and reports to the Road Safety Task Force as required.

Membership includes the NRMA Motoring and Services, Pedal Power, Motorcycle Riders Association ACT and Canberra Pedestrian Forum. 

  • Community Advisory Group (CAG)

The Community Advisory Group (CAG), reflects the diversity of local Canberrans. The CAG is advisory in nature and exists to ensure that TAMS continues to offer targeted services that meet community needs, and further helps guide priorities into the future.
