Permanent Water Conservation Measures in the ACT

Permanent Water Conservation Measures were introduced in the ACT on 31 March 2006. The new measures were introduced following a trial period over summer 2005/2006, and replace what were Stage 1 of the old Temporary Water Restrictions.

These commonsense measures help our community meet the water saving targets set out in the ACT’s long-term water resource management strategy, Think water, act water.

After the introduction of Permanent Water Conservation Measures, the Temporary Water Restrictions Scheme was revised and a new scheme was put in place in September 2006.  Under the Temporary Water Restrictions Scheme, Stage 3 Water Restrictions apply in the ACT and Queanbeyan from 16 December 2006. These are mandatory and enforceable and replace the Permanent Water Conservation Measures, which are in force at all other times. Full details of the restrictions you need to follow are outlined on the ACTEW website(External Link).
