ACT Energy Policy

Development of an ACT Energy Policy

The ACT Government is committed to releasing an energy policy in 2008 to meet it’s commitment under the ACT Climate Change Strategy action plan. The energy policy will list the Government’s energy policy objectives that promote the ACT’s long term economic, environmental and social interests. The Energy & Water Policy Branch in the Department of Territory and Municipal Services will be responsible for the development of this Energy Policy.

All Canberrans are encouraged to take this opportunity to contribute to the solution of the shared problem we all face.

Discussion Paper & Submissions

A Discussion Paper (PDF PDF 1.5Mb) was released on 13 March 2006 to seek the views on elements of an ACT energy policy. The Paper set out some of the key issues that affect energy supply and demand and their social, economic and environmental implications.
