About Domestic Animal Services

Domestic Animal Services is the ACT Government business unit responsible for providing a range of animal control services to the residents of the ACT region, including:

• Administration of Domestic Animal Act;
• Dog registration and infringements;
• Urban animal management advice and education;
• Animal nuisance issues;
• Management and operation of the dog pound;
• Apprehending, impounding and caring for roaming and lost dogs; and
• Dealing with vicious dogs and dog attacks.

The administration and pound facilities are based at Mugga Lane, Symonston ACT.

Business hours are between 9:00am and 5:15pm Monday to Friday and 8:30am to 4:30pm Saturday.
