Alligator Weed
The ACT Government is determinedly controlling the small but persistent infestations around Canberra to prevent its potential spread downstream, which could cause millions of dollars damage to downstream agriculture and the environment. “Downstream” is a big stretch of waterway: the Murrumbidgee and Murray Rivers, all the way to Adelaide.
