Background Options
On the initial drawing of a map this display box shows the words ‘Set Background’. The ACT Locate application provides the user with the option of selecting a background image. This will always display under all other data layers, however in drawing a map it may display after the other layers.
If the user selects the drop down arrow to the right of the text, the various background options will be displayed and the user can select the desired one.
The user can select an image background or choose ‘None’.
Upon selection of a background the map will redraw automatically using the same extent and data layers as before.
NOTE: IF THE PREVIOUS MAP VIEW INCLUDED DATA LAYERS WITH SOLID FILL SYMBOLS, THE BACKGROUND IMAGE WILL NOT BE VISIBLE. THE USER MUST FIRST TURN THE MAP DISPLAY OF THESE LAYERS OFF (FROM THE LAYER LIST VIEW) AND CLICK ON THE REDRAW MAP BUTTON.
The map layers have been included in the Layer List to enable the user to easily switch off the display of most of the default solid fill data layers, as they are included in the ‘ACT BASE’ Group. The user can click on the Group box to uncheck this, click on the REDRAW MAP button and then select the desired background image.
As the various image backgrounds available through ACT Locate are like other geographic data sets, each has a metadata entry in the ACT Geographic Data Directory. The
tag next to the selected image will present the user with a separate Metadata Page for the relevant background image. Further details on the Metadata Page in ACT Locate are available here.
