These photos are of Mitch, one of our Rangers at Namadgi National Park.

Mitch was inspecting the Boboyan Road within Namadgi National Park after it was transformed into a winter wonderland.
This image certainly highlights the diversity of what our Rangers do each day, from putting out fires in the summer months to inspecting roads closed due to snow falls.
With the recent snow falls we have had a few road closures throughout the ACT. Motorists are reminded that when roads are closed due to inclement weather we advise you to find alternate routes. Barriers as well as warning and diversion signs will normally be erected to alert people to the road closures. Unfortunatley this has not deterred some motorists who have been involved in minor motor vehicle accidents because they neglected to take notice of the signs.
Stay safe on the roads!

On Tuesday 19th June 2007 five Year 8 students, a teacher and a teachers assistant from Melba High School planted tulips, irises and daffodils in the blue wheelbarrows (supplied by Bunnings Warehouse).
The bulbs are to be part of Floral Focus 2007, an event which showcases products and latest releases for the annual bulb industry and have been supplied by Mr Fothergill’s Seeds and Bulbs, Jackson’s Daffodils, Van Diemen Quality Bulbs and Broerson’s Bulbs.
Last year, students from Melba High School helped with planting annuals in the Penncross flower bed. Andrew, the Head Gardener for Floriade, was so grateful for the help they gave him that he suggested to Melba High School that they help him again this year with bulb planting. They took up the offer!
The students are planning a follow up excursion to Floriade 2007 to view the work they have done.
Here are some quotes from the students involved in the plantings:
“I loved riding around in the buggy and loading soil” Blair
“ I learnt how to plant bulbs” Jalena
“I have been able to watch how things are being set up for Floriade and see if our plants from the last visit are growing” Zach
“I learnt how to plant seedlings and was surprised at the amount of different bulbs” Vanessa “We had an awesome time and would like to go back again” Blair, Zach, Vanessa and Jalena
A big thank you to those students involved and to all the people who contribute to making Floriade a truly awesome event for both Canberra and the surrounding district.

These photos are of Mike Zissler who we all know as our Chief Executive of TAMS along with Tony Gill the Executive Director of Enterprise Services Network (TAMS) and some of the dedicated staff at Capital Linen Service.

Here we have Joanne, Dianne, Narelle and William showing Mike how things are done.

Mike sorting out the dirty laundry!

Mike and Tony getting a crash course in tunnel operation from Peter.
On Friday the 29th June Mike Zissler and Tony Gill visited Capital Linen Service to have a look at the new equipment they have - the soiled sorting system and all three tunnel washers (or a continuous batch washer, which is a computerized industrial laundry machine designed specifically to handle heavy loads).
Capital Linen Service provides a quality linen rental and laundry service to hospitals, healthcare facilities and the best hotels and restaurants in the ACT and is part of the Enterprise Services Network in TAMS.
Mike and Tony were impressed by the work that everyone at Capital Linen Service does and expressed their thanks to everyone for making them feel welcome.
As you can see, Mike decided to give the soiled sorting team a helping hand to sort some health linen.
Why not read more about Capital Linen Service and the service they offer to the community.
Three cheers for Capital Linen Service!

These photos are of Steve who is one of dedicated TAMS Parks, Conservation and Lands Rangers. Steve works in and out of the Athllon Depot in Farrer.

The day to day duties of a Parks, Conservation & Lands Ranger can be highly varied...
They can be enjoying showing the public one of the best Yellow Box-Red Gum Woodland reserves in Australia, that is Mulligans Flat—as these photos show, during a good wildflower season.
On the same day they may be called to an accident where a Kangaroo has been hit by a car. Then later on in the day help out at a Parks Brigade hazard reduction burn, in another Canberra Nature Park Reserve.
Why not join Steve or another one of our dedicated Rangers for a Ranger Guided Walk or Activity. There is something happening in our parks and reserves most weekends. To find out what's on this weekend, visit our Ranger Guided Walks and Activities webpage.
A big thank you to Steve and all our Parks, Conservation and Lands Rangers for your commitment to looking after our native flora and fauna in what is 'Canberra the Bush Capital'!
