Unsolicited Marketing

Reducing unwanted junk mail:

If you have a ‘no junk mail’ sticker on your letterbox and still receive commercial advertising material that you don’t want, you can contact the Distribution Standards Board(External Link) on 1800 676 136.

They will take action on your behalf relating to any printed material of a commercial nature such as store catalogues, fast food leaflets, coupons, supermarket handbills, real estate, carpet cleaning, coupons, handyman flyers and so on.

The Distribution Standards Board has no direct influence over non-commercial pamphlet deliveries.  This includes newspapers, government information, election information, police, church or school items, Neighbourhood Watch and any items that are personally addressed or mailed. If you receive unwanted materials from these sources, contact the organisations responsible directly.

You can also contact ADMA(External Link) (the Australian Direct Marketing Association) to be placed on their "Do Not Contact" register.  This should lead to a reduction in unsolicited addressed mail and telemarketing calls from ADMA member companies.
